Sunday the 21st of June was the date for the 5th GP of the North West's Summer Series. A good turn out of more than 30 shooters listened to the safety speech and began the 30 shot course. I met Rob O'Neil at lane 12 (a mid and long length full size kill lane). Rob went first and dropped the near target. He then adjusted for wind for the longer shot but missed by a pellet to the right. I missed a long one a few lanes later and for a long time we were both 1 down.
About half way round I took a 42 yard target that missed and made no mark on the plate. Some quite long kneelers with some short but high angled ones were cleared and we continued on. We both then missed a very long target which took me for loads more wind than I thought. A short and a 30+ yard stander down ment 6/6 for disciplines!
Rob and I eventually arrived at our final lane. A very short 15mm and a short 25mm. Rob dropped them both for a really solid 28/30. I sat down and focused on the short target. My Leupold Competition scope wouldn't parallax on it so I judged it to be less than 10 yards. I set on a dial mark and aimpoint and hoped. Thankfully, down it went and the final target joined it to leave me on 27/30.
The day was won by Dave Ramshead who managed a perfect 30/30. This meant my score was worth 90%. I am really glad to be back in the AA scores and hope it continues! 2 GPs to go.
