Turton Tower was the venue for the 4th NWFTA Grand Prix of the summer season and my first since getting my Leupold back. Having shot terribly in the last few GPs with a borrowed set up, I was keen to get back to better ways. A good club day last week ment confidence was high.
Making my way to lane 14 I was met by my assigned partner, Clive Brooks. The first lane was a short reducer and a long full size. Two misses and then a horrible kneeling lane meant a 0/4 start and the confidence from last week was zapped as the horrors of the recent outings came flooding back.
A tricky wind was meaning shots missed left and right with regularity. Infact the first lane where I got both targets was a standing lane about half way through!! Clive was fairing slightly better as we fought on. Towards the end the FT gods began to smile on me a little more as I started to hit a few and finished strongly. Clive started to miss a few including some easier sub 40 yarders that I had being missing. Hitting a reducer with off the plate windage and a 45 yard full size kill left me on 22/40 meaning I had caught up with Clive. I was really unhappy with my score but having seen a few others I have upgraded it to just unhappy.
The day was won with a 31/40 by Paula Schofield meaning my 22 gave me 70.97% A big thanks to the Rivington Crew including shooting and non Shooting marshalls and Andy Wilson who, by all accounts, set the course all by himself. An enjoyable course with some great target placement and faceplate variety. Next GP is Oldham in 2 weeks.
